Spring 2009 Redefining Vision Dinner and Auction

Braille Instructor Julie Brannon and Brad Caldwell, emceesOur second annual Redefining Vision Dinner and Auction helped usher in the spring season with a bang. Auctioneer Brad Caldwell teamed up with the Lighthouse's own Julie Brannon who served as emcee to create an entertaining and festive evening raising over $100,000 in support of opportunties for people who are blind, Deaf-Blind, and blind with other disabilities.

Over 240 generous individuals bid high and often to support Lighthouse programs. Generous bidders raised their cards to donate $31,925 to our Computer Training Program for blind adults. We extend a very special thanks to keynote speaker and Lighthouse Employee of the Year Andy Bacon for his inspiring words regarding the Computer Training Program and the opportunities he has had at the Lighthouse.

Auction guests bidding on tactile art and other items at the auction
The Redefining Vision auction was designed to be a totally accessible event for our community.

We feature tactile art, braille items, sensory packages, and vacation packages accessible to blind and sighted people alike. All silent bid cards include a braille overlay and bid sticker for tactile bidding.
