I never thought that bartending would be part of my duties as Board President for Seattle Lighthouse for the Blind Foundation, but I got the chance to do just that on August 14th50 North in Seattle invited the Lighthouse to benefit from its “Guest Bartender Night,” and even created a special drink for the evening – the “Lighthouse Breeze” – which I became an expert at making!  During the course of the evening, a percentage of the proceeds from drink sales and all tips went to support the Employee and Community Services that we provide to create jobs for individuals who are blind,  Deaf-Blind, and blind with other disabilities.  The Lighthouse received a generous outpouring of support from approximately 60 guests who enjoyed (I hope) the services of the volunteer guest bartenders, including me, Lighthouse President and CEO Kirk Adams, Board of Trustees member Bennett Prowse, and Senior Director of Strategic Recruiting Kevin Daniel.  With donations from our generous guests and employer matching, the Lighthouse will receive over $3,000 in contributions from the night.

Our thanks go out to everyone who attended and to 50 North for its support of the community.  To learn more about the Lighthouse mission or for information on other upcoming events, visit
